We have started to shoot our opening scene and are in the middle of completing all the required shots before we start editing them. We wanted to have a still shot of our college for the start of the scene and we acomplished that on friday the 15.01.2010. This week we intend to finish all the other shots, we have given our cast a schedule of which they will look at and know when they will be acting for us and we have obtained all the required equipent to finish filming the rest of the scene.
It was difficult for us to find a full cast which are all available at the same time and are willing to take part but we managed to. We have delegated roles to each cast member so they know exactly what they're required to do and between ourselves we are clear on which one of us is taking on which tasks.
We watched the opening scene of the film The Ring and analyzed how the main character is represented:
The main character in the opening scene is a young white pretty female with blond hair. She is wearing her school uniform and by this we can tell her age (teenager).
Her characteristics are the usual fit of a teenager, very gossipy, giggly and playful but she also gets scared very easily.
From this it's clear that young white girls are being represented as weak, vulnerable and slightly stupid.
Today in our media lesson we planned our coursework in depth. We done a brief plan of our ideas such as locations, characters etc.
Today Tajmina took the role of commenting on other peoples blogs and doing paper work such as schedules and the crew list.
Shaidul helped Nahim with the planning of our coursework such as with timing and characters.
Nahim uploaded the voting station and the synopsis video. in addition he helped out with the paper work.
This is Killuminati productions synopsis highlighting our ideas for our main coursework. There are two ideas in which we developed and we are going to choose one of them. As a group we loved to do choose idea 2 for our coursework however it will be very time consuming. We got only 2 minutes for our opening scene. The first idea we'll be very suitable with in the time limit. Although idea 2 is a better idea we chose idea 1 so it can fit in.
Our film is going to be rated 15+
We chose this because our genre is Horror/Thriller and its going to contain scenes which are going to be unsuitable for children to watch. It will also contain violent actions and blood.
Also we want the film to be aimed at people of our own age group, we feel that because Most people our age are into these types of film and they like a bit of excitement, But if the film contained some sexual scenes and very strong language then our film would've been rated 18. So it's best suited for people over 15.
These are like the type of students we will have in the opening scene.
The preliminary exercise was to film and edit a character opening a door, crossing the room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character with whom he/she engages in a couple of lines of dialogue.
The main strengths of our production was up we were satisfied s that we were prepared and organized. In addition we were all comfortable with our roles . Editing was easy but it look a bit of time but at the end we all managed to get it finished. As a group we were satisfied with the final edit of the task. As all of us took each turns in different roles and we communicated well.
The only weakness we had was the camera work and framing. There were one scene where it didnt make sense for e.g Nishad's head is above the camera level, second scene Nishad's head is elow the camera level.
Next time we will be careful of the camera works and framing. So it will make sense and look more professional. we will think about camera movements and zooming.
